Award Season Nominations and Wins 2017

Warning ! Some of the awards in the above picture I may not be covering and the dates are not current.

I wrote most of this blog on Friday, December 16th , 2016 and unfortunately I wrote the rest of the blog on Wednesday , December 21, 2016 due to difficulties. When I say Monday or Wednesday in this blog , it refers to the Monday or Wednesday right before Dec 16th. Enjoy!!!

Well, hello everybody.  It looks like we we have a clear road to the Oscars!  So let's not waste any time.   

The Critics Choice Awards:  

The Critics Choice Awards took place last Sunday night.  Here's my very quick analysis.  If you're wondering T.J. Miller hosted the award.  The jokes were hit-and-miss – mostly misses though.  Now, let's get to the winners.  I got 7 out of 9 predictions right (yeah).  Let's summarize:  Best Picture – La La Land.  Best Actor – went to Casey Afleck for Manchester by the Sea (one of the few I got wrong).  Best Actress – Natalie Portman for Jackie.  Best Supporting Actor – went to Mershalla Ali for Moonlight.  Best Supporting Actress went to Viola Davis for Fences.  Best Director – went to Damien Chezelle for La La Land.  Best Animated Feature – went to Zootopia.  Best Original Screenplay – it's a tie between La La Land and Manchester by the Sea (so, I was half-right).  And now Best Adapted Screenplay – went to Arrival.  

The Golden Globes Nominations:

The Golden Globe Nominations were announced on Monday.  So. Let's do my predictions:  

Best Picture (drama) – Moonlight or Manchester by the Sea

Best Picture (musical or comedy) – There's one very interesting nomination that I want to point out to you; Deadpool.  Either Deadpool is a better movie than most people thought when it came out, or the Hollywood Foreign Press wanted to hang out with People's Sexiest Man Alive (Ryan Reynolds) Unfortunately for Deadpool, it does not have a chance of winning.  It will be La La Land

Best Actor (drama) – Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea

Best Actor (musical or comedy) – The award may go Ryan Reynolds just because they want to see his acceptance speech, but most likely Ryan Gosling for La La Land

Best Actress (drama) – Natalie Portman for Jackie-

Best Actress (musical or comedy) – Emma Stone for La La Land

Best Supporting Actor – Mershalla Ali for Moonlight

Best Supporting Actress – Viola Davis for Fences

Best Director – Damien Chezelle for La La Land

Best Screenplay: La La Land

Best Animated Feature – Zootopia

SAG Awards Nominations:

(one thing about the SAGs this year is that La La Land seriously under-performed.  It did not get nominated for their Best Picture category which is known as Best Performance by a Cast of a Motion Picture). As to what movie is going to win , It’s a race between Moonlight and Manchester by the sea .

Best Actress - Natalie Portman for Jackie

Best Actor- Casey Affleck for Manchester by the sea

Best Supporting Actor- Mershalla Ali for Moonlight

Best Supporting Actress -Viola Davis for Fences
