The 2016 SAG Awards

For those of you that don't know, the Screen Actors' Guild & The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) held their 22nd SAG Award Ceremony last weekend. Well, here are my thoughts...Let's get right to it.

Now, if you have been reading my blog for the past year or so, you are familiar with the SAGs, you will know that they have no hosts. Instead, they have a bunch of presenters... which has some problems. Like, it can make the ceremony rather dull. However, it DOES make the ceremony run much faster (maybe next year they could get me to host). There were some presenters that stole the show...well, correction; two. They are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. They are really funny. But, as with last year, the best part about the ceremony was the “in Memoriam” segment. And, I will say this, the SAGs do the BEST in Memoriam segment of all the major awards. The Oscars especially try to over-complicate things with their in Memoriam segment by having someone perform. You don't need that! You just need nice music and some clips of what the deceased had done for the industry. Let's move on to the winners.

First off I am not going to be talking about the TV categories. Not that the TV people didn't do a fine job; this is a blog about movies, and I am sticking to that. For best acting ensemble (aka best picture) went to Spotlight which is on its way to winning the Oscar for Best Picture (but it may lose because it's competing against The Revenent). Best Actor went to Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenent. I AM SAYING IT; IT'S LEO'S YEAR AT THE OSCARS. Best Supporting Actor went to Idris Edra for Beasts of no Nation but unfortunately, he's not nominated for The Oscar, so the race for the Oscar is wide-open. But, if I had to put money on it, I'd go with Sylvester Stallone. Alicia Vickander won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Danish Girl. And she is on her way to winning the Oscar as well. Best Actress went to Brie Larson for Room. Mad Max: Fury Road won Best Special Effects Ensemble. This movie is on the road to winning the Oscar as well.

Remember, to submit a movie for my end-of-the-year poll. You can find the rules in the event section. Goodnight and Bee Happy!
