Last night I was online making some of my award predictions, and then I was hit with the very sad news that Robert Osborne, the host of Turner Classic Movies (TCM), had died. Before I get into the rest of this, I will mention that the winner of my end of the year poll is Zoolander with 60% of the votes.
Now I would like to tell you why I was hit so hard with this news. I am a TCM fanatic and about 50% of the stuff I watch on TV is on TCM and Robert Osborne in many ways was TCM. He was there when the channel launched in 1994 up until his death yesterday. He got sick a month ago or so and he took some time off, but there was a still a sense that he would come back, but unfortunately that proved to be wrong. His intros and closings gave you a very warm feeling. He encouraged people to watch TCM. Now with him gone, it’s very hard to imagine TCM without him and I don’t know if this blog would be in existence without him, so thank you Mr. Osborne. Good night and Bee happy™
