The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of the Tinysauruses

Well, welcome to this really short review of The Land Before Time XI. Let's get right to it.

Background:
This movie was made strictly for money!

Plot:
All the dinosaurs are waiting for the sweet tree to be ripe, but Littlefoot knows all the fruit down and little dinosaurs (Tinysaurasus) eat them all. The adult dinosaurs go on a witch-hunt while the younger ones realize that the little dinosaurs aren't bad.

Opinion:
This movie is basically the same as all the other sequels. The character animation is passable. The plot was predictable. The voice acting is mostly bad. The CGI backgrounds are awful. The songs are really bad. 1 star! Goodnight, and Bee Happy!™

After the Land Before Time

Well, I am almost done with the Land Before Time Series.  My next review is coming down the pike really soon.  So, the question is: what will I do AFTER?  Well, the answer is up to you to decide.  How I am going to decide is by giving you, my faithful followers, a choice of various series.  I will give you the choice between six series (or a group of movies with a common theme).  They are as follows:

  • The Herbie Movies
  • The Disney Sequels
  • Some of the Muppet Movies
  • The Earnest Movies
  • Some of the Rogers and Hammerstein Movies
  • Some of the Titanic Movies
  • Other
Now “other” is your write-in.  And, considering that your write-ins will be almost mathmatically imposibble to win, it will be put in the  choices the next time I do a reader survey  (which will be about four years from now at the rate I go).  You only have 1 vote for the actual choices, but you can vote for one of the choices AND do a write-in.  Now,  I would like to explain one little rule.  I ask that the series has a MINIMUM of three installments and a MAXIMUM of thirty riprisals.  You can vote simply by commenting or emailing me at thatbradley@gmail.com.  This contest will conclude at the posting of my last Land Before Time movie.  And, by the way, this is totally based on popular vote (no electorial college here).  Mr.Bee

A Tribute to Robert Osborne

Last night I was online making some of my award predictions, and then I was hit with the very sad news that Robert Osborne, the host of Turner Classic Movies (TCM), had died.  Before I get into the rest of this, I will mention that the winner of my end of the year poll is Zoolander with 60% of the votes.

Now I would like to tell you why I was hit so hard with this news. I am a TCM fanatic and about 50% of the stuff I watch on TV is on TCM and Robert Osborne in many ways was TCM. He was there when the channel launched in 1994 up until his death yesterday. He got sick a month ago or so and he took some time off, but there was a still a sense that he would come back, but unfortunately that proved to be wrong.  His intros and closings gave you a very warm feeling. He encouraged people to watch TCM. Now with him gone, it’s very hard to imagine TCM without him and I don’t know if this blog would be in existence without him, so thank you Mr. Osborne. Good night and Bee happy

The 89th Oscars What the Bee?

Well, welcome.  Last Sunday night The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences held the 89th Academy Awards.  And, as I’m sure you’ve heard, they had a little bit of a mix-up with the Best Picture category (I repeat, THE BEST PICTURE).  For the two of you that have not heard, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway presented the Best Picure category.  They announced La La Land as the winner...My prediction was right for two minutes!  Only to come to an uncomfortablly abrupt end.  Then, apparenlty, they revealed to the crew of La La Land (on stage), in fact, they didn’t win...and that Moonlight did.  So, La La Land had to conceide to Moonlight.  It is literally like the end of the election when the losing candidate has to concede to the winning one...except for they are occupying the same stage.  Warren Beatty did come up to the stage to try to explain himself.  Faye Dunaway was probably nearly to Mexico by then.  He explained that The Best Actress envelope has somehow got swapped for The Best Picture envelope.  And, since Emma Stone won The Best Actress award for La La Land (which, not to boast, I also predicted), the presenters just went with the movie she was in (listed under her name).  If all this sounds like a total mess, you’d be right!  Someone is going to lose their job over this one (unless you’re the Annies and hire the same person back year after year).  This has never happened in the Academy’s 89 year tradition of this event.  So now let’s get to my theory as to WHY Moonlight beat out La La Land.  The reason that this blog has been delayed for a few days, is because I was getting my jaw put back into place from the utter shock at how this all unfolded.  I’ve come up with a couple of theories.  The first theory that I have is for best picture, they have a preferential ballot system (only for best picture).  So La La Land was probably very low on a lot of ballots.  Although this movie had several fans, it also had several haters.  Another theory is that with the “Oscars so white” controversy last year,  the voters wanted to error on the side of caution because they had a true contender in Moonlight.
Now my thoughts on the rest of the ceremony: Jimmy Kimmel is probably the best Oscar host since Seth MacFarlane.  The ceremony itself was the best since 2013 as well.  And the rest of the major winners are as follows (and, not to boast, I got most of them right).
  • Best Actress - Emma Stone: La La Land
  • Best Actor - Casey Affleck: Manchester by the Sea
  • Best Director - Damien Chazelle - La La Land
  • Best Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali - Moonlight
  • Best Supporting Actress - Viola Davis - Fences
  • Best Animated Feature - Zootopia
  • Best Adapted Screenplay - Moonlight
  • Best Original Screenplay - Manchester by the Sea
Thanks for everyone joining me for the entire awards season, and I honestly hope that I will get a better record for my predicting my picks next year...considering that that last year I said that The Founder and BFG were going to be Best Picture Nominees but both got 0 total nominations...and, back in November, I said La La Land and Birth of a Nation would get a lot of nominations - I was half-right....I also predicted La La Land for best picture (but everyone said that)...beside, I was right for about a minute.

Here are EARLY predictions for next year’s top Oscar nominations: Dunkirk (Directed by Christopher Nolan) about D-Day and Darkest Hour (starring Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill) about Churchill during WWII.  Also, two movies with an outside chance: Beauty and the Beast and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  Well, I hope I’m right on at least one of the four I predicted.  To the Oscar producers, I’m hiring.  Goodnight, and Bee Happy!
