The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards and BAFTA Nominees

I know I'm a little late getting this posted but unfortunately I couldn't post it because I was offline for about a day . ENJOY !

Mr Bee

Well, welcome! The 73rd Annual Golden Globes just wrapped up last night in Beverly Hills. So, let's begin.
The show was hosted by Ricky Gervais for the forth time. He did a really good job! If you have been reading my blog for a year, you will know from last year's show, I said “somebody get back Ricky Gervias!” Low and behold, they did. The presenters tended to be hit or miss in my opinion. Now let's get to the winners.

Best Picture (drama) went to The Revenant. And, I know I predicted Spotlight to win that award, but The Revenant was my number 2 prediction. Best Picture (musical or comedy) went to The Martian (as I predicted).
Best Actor in a drama went to Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant as well. Best Actress in a drama went to Brie Larson for Room I know I predicted Cate Blanchett for Carol but I wasn't sure who was going to win so Larson winning was not a surprise. Best Actor in a musical or comedy went to Matt Damon just as I had predicted. Best Actress in a musical or Comedy went to Jennifer Lawrence in Joy . I could have sworn Amy Shumer was going to win. For best supporting Actor Sylvester Styllone for Creed . Best supporting Actress went to Kate Winslet for her role in Steve Jobs . For Best Director Alejandro González Iñárritu for The Revenent. I thought Tom McCarthy was going to win but this award to Iñárritu is probably a makeup for not giving him the award last year for Birdman. And FINALLY the best animated feature award went to Inside Out ( no surprise there). And now before I end this blog I am going to take a quick look at the BAFTA nominees ( I am adding the BAFTAS to my award season coverage for 2 reasons 1. It's a very good predictor for the Oscars and 2. It a European Award Show and most of my audience is in Europe ). For Best Picture I am predicting The Revenant just to be on the safe side. For Best Animated Feature , it is really surprising that Minions is nominated ( maybe it played better to European audiences - everyone reading in Europe can you please confirm that ? ) But Inside Out is clearly the frontrunner.

That about wraps up my coverage of the Golden Globes and the BAFTA nominations . There is more award season coverage heading your way including my thoughts on the Oscar nominations and The Critic Choice Awards Ceremony . So check back for both of those! And remember there is still time to submit a movie for my end of the year poll. You can find the rules in my events section of my blog. Goodnight and Bee Happy!
