Welcome
to this special review of Peter Pan Live!...no the review is not
live, but the movie, that I am reviewing used to be live (or at least
was recorded live). Now, as recently announced this movie was the
winner of the poll that I did a few months back. I would like to
thank everybody that participated in my end of the year poll. So,
let's begin!
Background
After
the success of The Sound of Music Live!, just one month later, NBC
(in January of 2014) announced that their next musical would be none
other than Peter Pan! They hired back Craig Zadan and Neil Meron as
executive producers. Then, a couple of months later, they hired
Allison Williams and Christoper Walken to be Peter Pan and Captain
Hook respectfully.
Plot
Seriously?!
If you don't know the plot of Peter Pan by now, you are living under
a rock!
Opinion:
Let's
start with set design. The set design for this production is
marvelous. The choreography was wonderful. Okay, you want to talk
about Christopher Walken? Let's talk about Christopher Walken. He
did a really good job. He was sort of like Willy Wonka in the
opening scene of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when he seemed
like a feeble old man but was actually spry. Alison Williams did a
really good job as well. I think that she was better than Carrie
Underwood in The Sound of Music Live!! Then again, Carrie Underwood
NAILED the singing part while her acting, on the other hand, was MEH.
But, I'm getting off topic.
I
am going to give you a couple of nitpicks here: Now, this has
basically nothing to do with the show itself. NBC, why do stretch
the special out for 3 hours?! I do not care for the fact that it
seemed dragged out just to get the sponsorships in. Oh, and here's
another thing. On the DVD, why don't they have a scene selection.
That's
my review of Peter Pan Live! Thank you once again for everyone that
voted. And I will definitely be doing another end of the year show
next year. But I still have many other blogs to get through before
that. Now, I am proud to give Peter Pan Live the highest rating that
I can bestow: five gold stars! Goodnight and Bee Happy!™
