Warning
: some of the award shows on the above picture I may or may not be
covering and the dates are not current dates
Welcome
to the start of my award season
coverage.
As I promised, I will be giving you my opinions and predictions for
some of these award shows. The award shows that I am going to be
doing today are going to be in the order that they were announced in.
Ladies and gentlemen, queue your Don Pardo impression now (because,
LIVE FROM NY, it's Mr Bee's coverage of the 2015 award season and now
- your host Mr Bee). ( By the way, this is not live, but thanks for
that just the same ) .
The
Nominations for the Annie Awards
The
Annie award nominations were announced about 2 weeks ago, Dec 1st
2014. I am here to give my opinion, although I haven't seen any of
these movies yet, but plan to see at least one of them before the
season's end. Let's start with the biggest category which is usually
the last, but today I am covering it first and that is best animated
picture. I have limited the field to three and those three movies
are The Box Trolls, Big Hero 6, and How to Train Your Dragon II.
Now
let's move on to best voice acting and I predict Ben Kingsley as a
winner for his performance in The Boxtrolls. And now for best music,
I predict Danny Elfman for an award for Mr Peabody and Sherman.
Now
for directing, I predict an award for directing duo for the Boxtrolls
(but I am not mentioning their names because I don't want to have to
type them).
Don't
think that just because Pixar didn't have a movie out this year that
they are out of the running because they are not, as they still
managed to get nominations for their television special Toy Story
That Time Forgot.
The
Nominations for The SAG Awards
For
the SAG – Like with the Annies, I have not seen any of these movies
yet, but I hope to see at least one of the movies before the end of
the season. Now for my predictions BIRDMAN, BIRDMAN, BIRDMAN. I think
Birdman will sweep the SAG awards. Enough said.
The
Nominations for the Golden Globe Awards
As
I said with the SAG and the Annies, I did not see any of the movies,
but hope to before season ends. For my predictions BIRDMAN, BIRDMAN,
BIRDMAN and then maybe the theory of everything (enough said). (for
best animated movie I predict the Lego Movie
The
Nominations for The Critics Choice Movie Awards (The CCMA).
Now
for the Critics Choice Awards, as said before with the afore
mentioned awards, I also haven't seen these movies, but plan to see
at least one before the seasons ends (oh wait, I did see Guardians of
The Galaxy- please check out my reviews). (I'm sorry that is kind of
a shameless plug).
The
best way to predict the Critics Choice Award is to look at the Rotten
Tomatoes page on each movie, since a lot of the critics that vote on
the Critics Choice Awards are also on Rotten Tomatoes. Here it goes:
SELMA, SELMA, SELMA. If I have to pick a runner up, it would have to
be Boyhood since Selma had a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and Boyhood at
99%. For fans of Unbroken, do not expect it to win because it
currently has only 52% on Rotten Tomatoes (woops how did that get in
there?) Birdman is nominated, but unfortunately I do not predict it
will win a big award, but on the same token, I do feel it will win
best comedy (Birdman currently has a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes). For
best action movie I predict Guardians of The Galaxy (YEAH!)
For
best animated picture, I predict The Lego Movie. For best score, I
predict Hans Zimmer for Interstellar.
