Chris Rock will return as the 67th Oscar Host

Breaking News!!! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just announced today that Chris Rock will be the host of the 88th Academy Awards ( AKA The Oscars). Now here’s my opinion on Chris Rock hosting, but first cue your Don Pardo impression now because LIVE from Upstate, NY; it’s Mr Bee's coverage of the 2015 / 2016 award season. And Now Your   Host for the 5 months of award season “Mr. Bee” (This is not live).

Let's begin: As mentioned in the title , Chris is the 67th person who has ever hosted the Oscars (according to Ranker.com). I like Chris Rock's humor quite a bit (but he can get a little risque) in fact, as I mentioned in my blog on the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards, where his acceptance speech was one of the funniest moments of the night (in that blog I put a link to that speech and the only reason why I am not putting in this blog is because CBS decided, for some bizarre reason, to make that video private). As you may know, this will be Chris Rock's second time hosting the Oscars. He first hosted back in 2005 at the 77th ceremony. He is a little bit behind Bob Hope's 18 times and Billy Crystal's 9 times hosting. Now those of you who follow movie news frequently like me, you might know that when David Hill and Reginald Hudlin were announced as producers of the ceremony, they said that the Oscars will have 2 hosts but with this announcement, it does not seem to be the case. Before you go on the internet, assuming that they lied to us, (which they may have) they may have tried to get two hosts, but only Chris Rock was free to host or the second host could be announced later due to contract negotiations. Overall, I feel that Chris Rock will do a great job hosting, but if that is really the case we will have to find out on February 28th 2016.

As for the answer to the quiz from my last blog the answer is Ice Age (no one has answered right or wrong) but it's only been one day. As for today's question- Who is the founder of the academy? The answer will be revealed in my next blog. Comment or email me @ thatbradley@gmail.com and the winner will of course get to chose a movie for me to review.

Goodnight and Bee Happy!

“The Land Before Time VIII: The Big Freeze”

Welcome back : I’m sorry about making you wait 2 months before the next blog but I am here to tell you that Maleficent did not shoot me in between blogs ! You can stop having funerals for me ! We are here today to review the 8th movie in The Land Before Time franchise.  By the way I would like to point out a mistake I made in the review of the 7th movie. I said in that review that we were half way done with the series but this is now the halfway point as there is another one coming out next year (WHY?). Let’s begin :

Background

Like with the last movies there was little to know behind the scenes facts with this movie . I do have a couple of theories on why they may have made this. #1 MONEY . Now it could be that Universal heard about the production of Fox’s & Blue Sky’s ICE AGE  that would  come out the very next year and they wanted to get their prehistoric franchise out first (ironically enough Ice Age is another franchise that has been overrun ) or Universal could have just wanted to capitalize on the Christmas season with a Land Before Time Movie about snow !     ( Thank God they did not do a Christmas Special).

Plot

This movie is about something going wrong in the Great Valley and the 5 heroes have to go over their parents heads to fix it ( oh wait I just told you the plot of every Land Before Time movie) , yet there is a new element here ( well not really new as it has been done in several non Land Before Time movies). Duckie is for some reason mad at Spike and a migrating herd of Spiketales and Spike decides to go with them.  A new character is introduced  here named  Mr Thicknose and everyone in the valley thinks he knows everything ( He’s the Brian Williams of Dinosaurs ).

Opinion

First of all animation is pretty bad , but not as bad as other Land Before Time Movies but still not good ! The songs were terrible so bad that I would rather take a written test and get a failing grade on it than listen to them again. Voice acting is not particularly good either. I think they just barely passed acting school . Now commenting on the storyline . The plot was about Duckie being mad at spike but there is no explanation why she is mad . The plot is definitely really overused and boring. They added an element from Follow That Bird ( which is a much better movie). They put zero effort into this movie . There was only one part of this movie that effort was put forth and that was the development of Mr. Thicknose. Overall this movie barely escapes the golden garbage can award ! That is why I’m giving it 1 out of 5 star rating.  Now I’m trying something new here and here is what it is ;  at the end of every blog I am going to give a little quiz and whoever gets the question right will get to request a movie for me to write a blog on. Here’s todays question : What is another overrun franchise that stars prehistoric animals ? ( and no google searches please ) and here’s a hint ( it was mentioned in this blog). Please comment or e-mail me your answer @ thatbradley@gmail.com .

The answer will be revealed in my next blog. Goodnight and Bee Happy!
